Create a copy meant for listening

Copy the main text of your draft into a FolioTone text document. Remove editorial comments, long links, and markup that does not need to be spoken. Keep the original in your writing tool so that any revisions can be made in the right place afterward.

For a draft imported from PDF, review paragraph order and lines split in the middle of sentences. Extraction errors can make a sound sentence seem faulty. Cleaning the listening copy first lets you consider the writing itself rather than a problem introduced during conversion.

Give each pass a specific question

Instead of looking for everything at once, choose what you want to notice: sentences that run too long, repeated ideas, or abrupt transitions. Generate manageable audio parts so that you can return to a particular passage without searching through the entire draft again.

Keep the app in the foreground during speech generation and select a voice matching the language. Use Clear English for English and a Vietnamese voice for Vietnamese. For a mixed-language draft, prepare separate passages as needed rather than relying on automatic voice changes.

Mark the places that deserve another look

When a sentence is hard to follow, pause and read it. The cause might be sentence structure, punctuation, or the synthetic voice's handling of a name. Note its location in your draft before editing; one unusual pronunciation is not automatically a reason to change your wording.

A clearly spoken word is not necessarily the correct word in context. FolioTone does not replace spelling tools, fact checking, or an editor. Treat the listening pass as an additional step, then reread the final written version before sharing or sending it.

Keep the revision loop manageable

After revising a passage, generate only the part you need to check again. Name listening documents by topic or version if you keep several copies. That helps you avoid judging an old audio passage after its wording has already changed in the current draft.

If you share audio with a collaborator, consider privacy and select only what they need. WAV and M4A exports are available within the limits shown in the app. Generation happens locally, but a file you share is subsequently handled by the receiving app or service.
