Help & support
Updated: October 26, 2026
Start listening, handle scanned pages and restore purchases — essential guidance in one place.
Read & listen to PDFs
Library → add PDF → Open book → Text → Listen from page start / Listen from here. Enable continuous listening in Settings for following pages.
Scanned pages / wrong text
Run OCR again, check scan quality and edit text before listening. Blurred or multi-column PDFs may need paragraph order corrections.
Export & lock-screen playback
Prepare & export audio → select pages → wait for completion → listen or export WAV/M4A. Keep the app in the foreground during speech generation.
Restore Pro
Use the purchasing Apple Account, connect to the internet and open Settings or Pro → Restore Purchases. If pending, wait for Apple’s confirmation; do not repurchase.
Speech is interrupted, slow or silent
- Try a short passage at 1× and check speaker/Bluetooth output and volume.
- Finish preparing audio before playing. Generate a new part rather than replaying old cached audio.
- Check available storage and let a hot device cool down. Do not delete the app before saving books/documents you want to keep.
- If it persists, email your device, iOS, app version, selected voice and reproduction steps. You do not need to send the whole book.
Frequently asked questions
Does listening start as soon as I import a book?
FolioTone preserves the pages in your PDF. After importing, open your book and tap “Listen from page start” or “Listen from here”. Continuous listening moves through the following pages, with optional automatic page turning.
Do I need an internet connection for speech?
No. Text extraction, OCR and speech generation run on your device. Internet is needed to download the app, purchase or restore Pro, and retrieve books stored in cloud services.
Can I listen to scanned PDFs?
Yes. The app attempts text recognition on pages without a text layer. Accuracy depends on scan quality; review and edit recognized text before generating audio.
Will playback continue with the screen locked?
Prepared audio can keep playing with the screen locked. For longer listening, use “Prepare & export audio” first; speech generation needs the app in the foreground on iOS.
What does “unlimited” mean?
The two free voices have no daily character quota. The other six voices allow 3,000 characters of new audio a day on Free; Pro removes that quota. Generation speed and individual part length still depend on your device, memory and available storage.
Does Pro generate speech faster?
Both versions use the same speech engine. Pro removes voice quotas and batch limits. It is a one-time purchase; your local App Store price is shown in the app.
