Pages preserve your place in the book

A PDF already has page boundaries, illustrations, and a layout. Imported into FolioTone, that structure gives you a way to return to a passage and compare extracted text with the original. A page might hold a picture, a few lines, or a dense wall of notes.

Consequently, page count is not a precise listening-time estimate. A page packed with commentary differs from a chapter opener containing only a title. Inspect the actual content before using the number of pages to decide how much material to prepare for a particular listening session.

Audio parts serve the generation workflow

Speech generation needs to handle text in workable units. A longer passage may become several parts rather than one enormous audio block that must finish before anything is usable. In the text composition workflow, these parts help you follow the material being prepared and the work already completed.

Do not assume that audio part three always means PDF page three or the author’s third chapter. Operational boundaries are not a table of contents. When you need to locate a particular sentence, its source page and text are more dependable references than remembering an audio part number alone.

Choose boundaries that match your purpose

When reading a specific page, use Listen from page start or Listen from here to locate the beginning. When preparing material for a walk, choose a useful content range instead of trying to force every printed page into its own audio file regardless of how much text it contains.

Before preparing a long sequence, audition the joins between parts. Check that sentences remain meaningful and that no passage repeats unexpectedly. In scanned documents, those problems can originate in OCR or repeated headers, rather than in the division of audio itself. Inspect the source before blaming the boundary.

Name exports by source and content range

For WAV/M4A exports, use a recognizable book and content range in the filename so separate preparation sessions remain distinguishable. Open the exported file and hear its beginning and ending before taking it elsewhere. Retain the source PDF as a reference if you later want to correct a passage.

Completed audio can play, while unfinished material still requires the app in the foreground for generation. Read the Free limits shown at preparation and export. Pro removes corresponding limits, but does not make every printed page contain the same amount of speech or produce equal-length recordings.
