Start with the file you already have
Open FolioTone and import your PDF through Files. If the document lives in cloud storage, download it to the device first. Offline speech generation cannot retrieve a book that is still available only through an internet connection. Make that distinction before you leave home.
Open the imported book and find the first page you actually want to hear. FolioTone preserves the PDF pages, but a polished cover may contain no readable text. An ordinary content page gives you a more useful starting point for testing the book.
Check the words before the voice
Switch to Text and inspect the extracted passage. If the sentences appear in the right order, proceed with a short sample. For a scanned page, use on-device OCR and review unusual words, page numbers, and punctuation before asking the app to generate speech.
Choose a Vietnamese voice for Vietnamese writing or Clear English for English. Listen to a short paragraph containing a name or abbreviation that matters to you. Matching the language is more useful than selecting a voice purely because you like its tone in a different passage.
Decide where listening should begin
Listen from page start suits a fresh page. Listen from here lets you begin at a selected point after reading part of it yourself. Importing a book does not automatically start playback: you decide what to hear and when the reading session should begin.
Keep FolioTone in the foreground while speech is being generated. Text length and device hardware affect the wait, so the short trial is valuable before a longer job. You do not need an account or a document upload to a speech server to complete this step.
Turn the trial into a reading habit
Once the first passage sounds right, enable continuous listening if you want to continue through later pages. Before a walk or a longer journey, prepare completed audio first. That gives lock-screen playback material to play without depending on unfinished generation in the background.
Gentle, Warm, and Clear English have no daily character quota on Free. Batch preparation and export limits still appear in the app. Choose a manageable chapter that fits your session, then expand your workflow once you understand how the book becomes separate audio parts.
