Page start gives a clear beginning

When you open an unread page, Listen from page start is the most straightforward choice. View the PDF to orient yourself, switch to Text to inspect the words, then begin with a starting point you can easily identify in the original document when following along.

This also makes a useful test for a newly imported file. If the first spoken sentence differs from the main text you expected, check whether a running title or page number was extracted first. A brief replay can reveal irrelevant lines before you prepare a much longer section.

From here suits the middle of a reading session

If you have read half the page or only need one passage, select an appropriate position in Text and use Listen from here. Read the first selected sentence to avoid entering an argument halfway through its context. Including one earlier sentence can sometimes make the passage much easier to follow.

Choosing a listening start does not rewrite the original PDF. You are selecting material to hear, rather than cutting earlier pages out of the book. Keeping that distinction clear makes it comfortable to move between the visual page and extracted words without worrying about losing the original content.

Give each document style a short trial

A continuous story may remain understandable when you join in the middle of a paragraph. An instruction sheet is different: listen to the explanation before a list of actions. Phrases such as this setting, afterward, or the previous item need context to make sense outside their immediate visual surroundings.

Match the voice to the passage language and keep FolioTone in the foreground while generating speech. If the result starts somewhere unexpected, check the text and selected position before regenerating an entire page. A successful file import does not mean that listening is supposed to begin automatically.

Continue beyond the first passage

Once the starting point works, enable continuous listening if you want the following pages. A later page may contain an image or a scan, so inspect how extraction works for that book. Automatic page turning cannot supply words that are missing from the source text itself.

For listening with the device locked, prepare the required audio first and then play the completed material. Flexible starting points make your reading session more useful, but they do not remove foreground generation requirements or the preparation limits currently displayed for the Free edition of the app.
