Begin with a complete English passage
Choose Clear English in the text composer or reader when your source is English. A complete paragraph is a better first sample than a list of isolated words because it reveals phrasing and pauses. The opening of an article often gives you a useful and representative listening test.
FolioTone does not automatically change voices between languages within one passage. For a document that alternates between Vietnamese and English, separate the material into suitable passages and choose the matching voice before generation. This also makes it easier to review which language caused an unexpected reading.
Offline depends on what is already downloaded
Clear English uses a Kokoro model bundled with the app. Speech generation happens on the device, without sending the document to a remote inference server. You do not need an account to paste an English paragraph and turn it into a personal listening copy.
A PDF that is still stored in a cloud service must be downloaded first. Installing the app and purchasing or restoring Pro also require a connection. Before a journey, check both the original document and its completed audio while you still have access to your usual network.
Review difficult words before a long session
Try a passage containing the names, specialist terms, and abbreviations that appear throughout your document. A generated reading may not match the pronunciation you intend, particularly for a person or product name. You can make the listening draft more explicit while keeping an unchanged copy of the original.
Do not treat generated speech as an authoritative pronunciation reference. If exact pronunciation matters for study or work, consult a reliable reference separately. For everyday listening, the practical aim is a clear, understandable version that preserves your meaning and does not distract you with repeated uncertain words.
Finish preparation before putting your phone away
Clear English is one of FolioTone’s three Free voices without a daily character quota. Tasks such as batch preparation and exporting still have their own Free limits displayed in the app. Testing a short sample first helps you decide what is worth preparing before starting the longer job.
Keep FolioTone in the foreground while it creates speech. When the parts finish, check the transitions and start playback; prepared audio can continue with the screen locked. There is no single generation speed across all iPhones, so allow extra preparation time for a lengthy document.
TRY IT WITH YOUR OWN WORDS
